Father wants the baby to have his last name?
October 6th, 2009 Posted by: admin
but he isn’t involved with the baby at all?
17 CommentsMy friend got a girl pregnant, but he decided early in the pregnancy that he did not want to be with her. She had a boy at the end of this past December.
My friend was pretty absent during the pregnancy, and even now he doesn’t show much of an interest in the baby. However, he has repeatedly asked her to give the baby his last name, although she refuses. Do you think this is fair, considering he has no role in the baby’s life?
Personally, I side with the baby’s mother, but I want to know what you all think. Makes me wonder if he’d care about the last name so much had she given birth to a little girl!

Legalities involved in giving my baby a different last name than mine?
September 25th, 2009 Posted by: admin
I am pregnant and single. The father is nowhere in the picture. I was raised by my mom and only had a passing relationship with my father although I have his last name. I would like to give my baby my mother’s last name since I feel that is the family we really belong to. Is that legal?

Is there a law that makes it so the baby has to have the father’s last name?
My friend just had a baby a 9 mo ago. She gave him her last name. Now the baby’s father is taking her to court to have the baby’s name changed to his. That is why I was wondering. Can he do that?

How is the name/surname Roget pronounced?
September 15th, 2009 Posted by: admin
Before anyone tells me not to name my baby a name I can’t pronounce, I’ll say that I’m not going to. I just thought this is the section where it’s more likely that I’d get an answer.
So how do your pronounce Roget (note the T, it isn’t Roger)?

Can the baby have the father’s last name?
August 28th, 2009 Posted by: admin
I live in Texas and I am not married to my baby’s father. We lived together and been together for about 6 months, and with the news that I’m pregnant, we have contemplated getting married. But we’re also wondering if we should wait because I always wanted a nice wedding, with planning, and a tan, no baby bump, a honeymoon…. etc. I just don’t want to rush out and deal with the stress right now, perhaps do it right after the baby comes.
When the baby is born, if we’re still not married, will they have any problem if I give my baby his last name?
